Harvested the first Red Ripe Jalapeno and Black Hungarian peppers. Finally some red tasty Brandywine tomatoes are ready. The Sun Sugar and Lady Bug Cherry tomatoes have produced 3 collanders full of harvests. The Black Beauty Zucchini and Alibi Cucumbers have had a growth spurt in the hot weather. As they’re about to turn 50, and wanting to adopt a more healthy lifestyle, Josée and Michel decide to plant a vegetable garden outside their home in the suburbs of Drummondville, Quebec. Their backyard had little sun exposure, so they decide to set up the garden in the front yard. Once the garden beds are in place and the vegetables have started growing, the city asks them to remove their garden to put lawn back, but the couple decides to fight.

Charles Dowding’s method of growing food is perhaps one of the most inspiring methods out there. He has developed his own style of no dig vegetable growing through his use of compost and the results really do speak for themselves. I decided to go and take a look at Homeacres to see what he is doing and to find out a bit more about no dig. I hope this video will inspire you to find out more, and these links will be useful for that:

BBC Gardener of The Decade, Katherine Crouch, shows how to plant and grow a vegetable garden in a small space.

Katherine uses a grow bag and wooden poles to allow the vegetable plants and seeds to grow upwards to maximise what fruit and vegetables you can grow in a small space. The varieties of climbing vegetables used in this video include Runner beans and Haricot beans.
